We’re having a bit of a slow night at work, so I decided to take a break from reading Michael Ramsey and update this.

Today was kind of…weird.

My first class surprised me by being more boring than I’d expected and then my second class was WAY more intense than normal.

The real drama though unfolded when I walked into Preaching. Everybody was sitting there, waiting until somebody said “who’s preaching today?” and Julie said “Matt is.” That was a bit of a surprise for me. So I can safely say I’ve experienced a preacher’s nightmare and come out safely on the other side. Rather than make me preach today, Julie just rescheduled my preaching for a few weeks from now and canceled class.

That turned out to be a good thing because it gave me a chance to talk shop about ministry and not knowing what exactly we’re all up to with a classmate. It was good to have had a chance to do that.

Yay for Skypdaytes. They’re awesome.

I’ve also realized that I spend a fair amount of time (at least 40 minutes a day I think) playing video games. I’d feel a little guilty about it - that’s definitely time I could(should?) be using for studying - but I also feel like it’s become an important part of my “self care” which I’m learning is more and more important.

I’m excited for the impending holiday season. It’s my favorite time of year and I’m happy that it looks like I’ll have a nice person to spend it with - not to mention some awesome dc-related family Christmas plans.

Isn't it weird...

That sometimes it’s only in talking about places of weakness and brokenness that we actually get to feel closer to somebody?

I guess I haven’t really been doing a good job with this so far and it’s only been a few weeks. So, maybe that’s kind of a bad sign?

I’m in DC this weekend for my niece/Goddaughter’s baptism. It’s been nice to get to catch up with Pete and Liz, see their new house, and play with Katherine. We went to the Cathedral earlier to run through the service and it was sad to see the building all blocked off and covered with scaffolding. Hopefully things work out so it can be opened again on time next week.

School has been…alright, I guess. I’m not really wild about my classes, but it just means I can take more electives next semester. It’s also been a really rewarding experience to be working in a parish. Yeah…we’ll say rewarding.

GPSCY is pretty much the best place I’ve worked so far. So that’s been great.

And I can say that I’m happier now than I’ve been in a while.

It really makes all the difference in the world to have somebody you can actually talk to.

Well, let’s see how this goes.

I figured it was high time I gave actual blogging another shot. We’ll see if I can actually stick to it this time…
